Anita Benard (nee Beebe) passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.
Anita spent her childhood growing up in Big River, SK until she graduated from high school and moved to Saskatoon to attend the nursing program at Kelsey Campus. Once she completed her degree, she moved to Edmonton to begin her nursing career where she then met her husband Denis. After a few years, they decided to relocate to Prince Albert where they would be closer to family. There, Anita began her work at the Holy Family Hospital and then home care, dedicating her time to help others, until her retirement due to kidney disease. While retired Anita spent her time focused on what meant to her the most: spending time with friends and family. Whether it was at home or vacationing at the lake, she was the glue which held the family together, always thinking ahead to make sure everyone was taken care of and loved beyond all measure.
She was a loving wife to Denis for 45 years; a wonderful mother to Jonathan (Rachelle), Aimee (Joel), Kevin (Ashley), an amazing Nana to Hailee, Jillian, Leah, Liam, Kensie, and sister to Vernon, Walter, Barbara, and Roger.
Anita was predeceased by her father Charles, mother Dorothea, sister Corinne, and brother Michael.
She will be incredibly missed, but her family treasures the memories and time spent with her and takes comfort that she is now at peace.
Her celebration of life is yet to be announced. Special thanks to the staff in the Palliative Care Unit at St. Paul's Hospital for their incredible work, and in lieu of gifts please consider donating to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or St. Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
