Basil Harrison

1928 — April 2, 2021

HARRISON – Basil, October 12, 1928 – April 2, 2021

Our dear father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away very peacefully at Parkridge Centre in Saskatoon. He was ready to be reunited with his wife Effie who pre-deceased him in 2018 and whom he has missed greatly. He is survived by son Wayne (Brenda) Harrison, daughters Kathy Koppang and Sherry (Don) Campbell; six grandchildren, Tracy (Jean-Paul) Berretta, Tylar (Theresa) Koppang, Heather (Trevor) Gray, Graeme (Kimberly) Harrison, Nathan Taves and Alex (Brittany) Campbell; five precious great-grandchildren, Lucas and Tea Beretta and Aiden, Kate and Rowan Gray. Also surviving him is his sister Marge Kirchmeier and her husband George of Saskatoon, and sister Evelyn Lindstrom of Kelowna. Basil was born in Foam Lake Saskatchewan and raised in a large family on a farm homesteaded by his father Walter Harrison. As a young man he moved to Saskatoon and soon thereafter met Effie, whom he married in 1949. Basil was a very hard worker and instilled in all his children and grandchildren a solid work ethic. In his retirement he enjoyed gardening, attending the horse races, curling, and watching all manner of sports on TV. He was always willing to help his kids with projects around their houses and spending time with the grandkids, all of whom have fond memories of playing innumerable card games with Grandpa, who they could never beat. Basil never had an unkind word to say about anyone and was a true gentleman. The family expresses a special thanks to the staff at Luther Riverside Terrace where he and Effie lived for several years, and especially in the last year to the wonderful, caring staff at Parkridge Centre, who during the Pandemic went far and above the call of duty to care for Dad. No matter how busy they took the time to keep the family informed as to how Dad was doing. It was greatly appreciated. Basil will be laid to rest next to Effie in the Holy Ascension church cemetery near Hubbard.
