DONNA KEMMER (1947 - June 10, 2022)
It is with heavy hearts that the Haight family shares the loss of Donna Kemmer. Born Donna Lawson in Outlook, SK in 1947, Donna passed away at the age of 74 on Friday, June 10th, 2022 in Saskatoon, SK.
She is survived by her children Lyanne Leuschen (husband Gerry and children: Devon, Allysha, Carter and Davis), Barry Haight (wife Carol and children: Nicholas, Dylan and Danielle), Colin Haight (wife Erin and children: Michel, Chandler, Mason and Waylon) along with her siblings Al Lawson, Ed Lawson, and Les Lawson.
She was preceded by her loving husbands Allan Haight (1999) and Charlie Kemmer (2018) along with her siblings Stella Rayfield, Howard Lawson and Joyce Dunlop.
Donna found joy from the simplest pleasures in life: reading, puzzling, scrabble and watching curling. But her true happiness lay in baking, gardening, her family and any new challenge she decided to explore.
It was rare that Donna’s house was empty. She always had a door open for her children to stay when visiting, her grandchildren for a sleepover or a room during schooling or for her neighbours and brothers to pop by for baking and a visit. She delighted in her children’s, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s lives and accomplishments and loved nothing more than to help her grandchildren learn to bake, play games or “help” in the garden. You knew you were loved when you were with Donna.
Donna’s strength was her steadfast character and devotion to others. She was a selfless woman who cared for those around her. She proudly raised three children, loved and provided care for her husband Allan and later Charlie when they were no longer able and provided years of care for her aging mother-in-law and father-in-law. Donna also did everything she could to help her children and grandchildren whether it was advice, an open door or a freezer full of baking. She could see the positive in any situation, provide gentle and practical advice and always make sure you felt supported. She was truly the best wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother.
Donna revelled in new challenges and adventures. Her final adventure was her move to the city from her long-time home in Hanley, SK. She had big plans to enjoy the library, walks with her children, attend grandchildren’s sports, more family suppers, build a new garden and take a trip to the coast to see the ocean and spend time with her daughter. She was taken too soon to experience these adventures, but her family will always take her with them in their hearts.
