It is with sadness that the family of Edgar Harold Wagner announces his passing on November 20, 2024, at Royal University Hospital.
Ed was born on May 29, 1936, to John and Martha (Lesser) Wagner and was the third son in a family that would grow to include seven siblings. He attended Lakeburg School, where he spent his early years before beginning work on the family farm. He later took a job at Purity Dairy in Saskatoon, where he met Fern Thompson, his wife of 61 years. Ed went on to have a diverse career, first as a trucker for many years before finishing his working life at the Saskatoon Wastewater Treatment Plant.
A very passionate gardener, Ed took great pride in his yard and award-winning tomatoes, and spent countless hours tending to them. He played cards, bingo, and loved a good game of pool. The Snooker Shack was a happy place for him.
Both Fern and Ed were skilled with needlework, and many of these became cherished keepsakes. Ed was talented with wood, as is evident by their many cabinets, as well as all the framing for their, his sisters Marilyn and Carol's, and his sister-in-law Sandra's, needlework.
For numerous years Fern and Ed loved their month spent in Vegas, enjoying all it had to offer.
Ed was predeceased by his parents John and Martha Wagner, his wife Fern (2023), his brothers Harvey and Kenneth (2024), his brothers-in-law John Sawatzky (2019) and Fred Smith (2024), and his godson Darren Smith (2002).
He is survived by his siblings: Marilyn Smith (Fred), Carol Sawatzky (John), Ida Bartley (Wayne), Dennis Wagner (Linda), and Gordon Wagner (Patricia), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will remember him fondly.
Ed will be missed by all. At his request, there will be no funeral service.
