Ernest (Ernie) Coates passed away at Parkridge Centre in Saskatoon on January 23, 2016 at the age of 92. Loving husband, father, stepfather and grandfather, Ernie was predeceased by his first wife, Charlotte. Ernie will be lovingly remembered by his second wife of 45 years, Theresa (Terry); his son Dennis (Louise) Coates and their children Adam (Jennifer) Coates, Lansea (Jared) Kaiser and great grandchildren Benjamin and Claire Coates; stepchildren Joyce (Ed) Tremblay, Dennis (Carol) Rutten, Karen (Dennis) Barber and grandchildren Lori (Dwain) Hausherr, Lois (Tony) Kazoleas, Jan (Colin) Tuckwood, Connie (Reg) Balon, Brent Rutten, Jennifer (Andy) Uprichard, Evan Barber, Avery Barber and 12 great grandchildren. Ernie was born in Leask, SK. He farmed near Leask and was a pillar of the community where he spent ten years as a leader of the 4-H Club, several years as a member of the Silver Grove Church Council, many years in the Leask Lions Club and several years on the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool Committee. Ernie fulfilled his dreams and traveled the world with his beloved wife Terry. They spent many winters in Needles California, enjoyed golf, fishing and made numerous good friends wherever they went. Ernie will always be remembered for his kind and friendly nature, his brave, curious and gentle soul, sense of humor and optimistic spirit. He was well loved by many and will be dearly missed. Ernie’s family would like to thank the staff of Trinity Manor at Stonebridge, City Hospital and Parkridge Centre for their care and compassion.
