Letourneau - Françoise Irene
It is with hearts full of emotion that we announce the passing of our loving Mother and Grandmother (mémère). Françoise made her final journey home on June 30th, 2023 at the age of 90 in St. Ann’s Nursing Home. She is survived by her children: Gaetane (Marlowe), Guy, Jocelyne, Joel (Tina), RéAnne (Sisters of the Presentation of Mary). Eight grandchildren: Mitch, Sandralee (Michael), Ali (Matthew), Sarah (Jeff), Devon (Cindy), Danelle (Justin), Renée (Gareth), Nolan. Four great grandchildren: Benjamin, Georgia, Jasper, Riley. One sister: Marcelle Flahr, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents, 12 brothers and sisters, her husband Albert and son Roger.
Mom was born in 1933 in Lac Pelletier, Saskatchewan. She grew up there, met and married our dad, Albert Letourneau in 1953. While living on their farm they had five children. In 1962, they moved to Swift Current, and eight years later their sixth child was born. The family moved to Saskatoon in 1972, where she resided, except for the three years that mom, dad and RéAnne spent in Estevan from 1979 to 1981. For many years she was very involved in the Al-Anon and AA Fellowship with our dad who was an addictions counselor.
In the Spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, her patron Saint, mom strived to live a life of poverty and simplicity. With a heart of compassion and justice, she reached out to the poor and suffering. United to the Cross of Christ, she offered up her sufferings through her prayer life, spending hours in the chapel through her great devotion to the Eucharist and the Rosary. With her strong faith and through the intersection of Mary, she journeyed through the “Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious mysteries” of her life, interceding for her family and continues to do so now.
The family would like to express their gratitude for all the spiritual care she received from numerous people; and would like to acknowledge all the healthcare workers that mom got to know over the years as her health was declining. Special thanks to the staff at Porteous Lodge and St Ann’s where she spent her final years.
