August 31, 1942 — March 27, 2025

It is with love and sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful mom, Grace, on March 27, 2025, at the age of 82. She will be remembered always as a loving and thoughtful mom, wife and Baba whose warmth and kindness forever will fill our hearts.

Mom, had a heart full of love, a spirit of resilience, and strength. She showed us what it meant to love one another in good times and in bad, to have no judgement, to work hard no matter how hard it was and to show strength when things got tough.

Mom was born in 1942 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan to Alec and Olga Garbruch. She was the second eldest of 6 girls. Vivian, Grace, Dorothy, Elsie, Florence, and Shirley. This group of sisters were something to be reckoned with, and to those who knew them can attest to that. They loved and adored one another deeply, in illness and celebrating one another and their families during moments of joy. We take comfort, that they are once again all together.

In 1962, Mom went on to nursing school in Saskatoon, then later she worked at St Paul’s Hospital. The move resulted in a few evenings at the Manhattan Ball room which one night led to the meeting up with a handsome dark-haired gentleman from Foam Lake. They married shortly after they met in 1964. They would continue their life together in Weyburn, Foam Lake and Saskatoon. Mom nursed for 15 years and then her entrepreneurial spirit took over and she purchased a variety store in Foam Lake, a personal care home caring for 15 residents, Campus Confectionary and Dollar Store with More, all in Saskatoon. Retirement did not happen for mom until she was 68, she thrived on being busy. In 1998, Mom was honoured as Woman Entrepreneur of the Year in Saskatoon, recognizing her business acumen and dedication to her clients.

Mom and Dad had two daughters, Bonnie and Colleen. We each had 3 children who she adored beyond all other things. Proud to be their Baba, and their biggest cheerleader! Our children were blessed to have such a strong, invincible role model to look up to. Your courage and strength will carry us all as we navigate our way without you.

Mom shared her father’s love for harness racing, Friday night cocktails at the westend shop with friends, hosting many dinner and dance parties in their home, travelling to Mazatlan with friends along with brother in-law Ted and Stella, many trips to Vegas, birthday celebrations, Christmas traditions, endless road trips to watch her grandson’s hockey games, special dinners at Bonnie’s and the one-on-one with a cup of Tim Hortons coffee.

Mom had some health challenges along the way, but she taught us through her journey to fight and believe. She rarely complained, when so many times she could have. At the end of every call, she would insist we passed along her hello and love. It was important to her that everyone knew just how much they meant to her and that they were always in her thoughts. We will never forget that about her.

She is survived by her loving husband Morris, daughter Bonnie and Alan Crozon, children Kennedey, Mackenzie and Presley. Colleen and Pat Elynuik, along with our children Campbell (Robyn), Jakson (Kendra) and Hudson. She is also remembered by her brothers and sisters inlaw, nieces, and nephews. As one fondly shared, “Auntie Grace was always my favourite and will be remembered for being so full of life—beautiful, sassy, and fashionable.”.

Rest in peace, Mom. You will be forever loved and missed.
