After a long battle with cancer, Kevin passed away peacefully on February 5th, 2025, at Royal University Hospital with his family by his side. Kevin was 54 years old and born in 1970 at Portage la Prairie Manitoba to parents Geoffrey and Sandra Hills. Kevin is survived by wife Michelle Kenney, brother Chad (Danean) Hills, brother-in-law Jeff (Raelene) Kenney, niece and nephews Brady, Spencer and AJ Kenney, and mother-in-law Tess Kenney.
Kevin's family relocated to Saskatoon in 1979. He attended Confederation Park School and graduated grade 12 in 1988 at Bedford Road Collegiate. Here Kevin volunteered at BRIT, his first experience with event planning. Kevin's interest in production would lead him to SIAST in Prince Albert, where he completed the Audio/Visual technician course. Kevin started working in the concession at Saskatchewan Place in 1988 on the day the facility doors opened. After a couple years, he worked his way up to be the full-time stock person for Western Concessions. Kevin continued up the ladder, becoming the Bar Manager and eventually General Manager for Food and Beverage Services at SaskTel Centre. In 2010, with colleagues Cowan and Aaron, the three started their own company called Prairie Boys Hospitality to provide concession services at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway. The company continued to grow to become the food and beverage contractor at Merlis Belcher Place in 2018 and SaskTel Center in 2020. Kevin loved his work and work family that contributed to supporting thousands of sporting events and concerts. Even though this job took up most of his time, Kevin took a week every August to work as an admissions supervisor at the Prairieland Exhibition; he truly was a carnie at heart.
Kevin married the love of his life Michelle in 2016. Time relaxing with family and friends was very important to him, as well as enjoying cuddles with his dog Bailey. He also liked travelling and gravitating to a beach lounger with cervesas every winter. Kevin enjoyed watching sports and got particularly excited for the Olympic games; always a strong critic of the opening and closing ceremonies. Kevin was a BIG man, with a BIG personality but the biggest thing about him was his heart.
A celebration of life come and go will be held for Kevin February 13th 2025 upstairs in the O16 lounge at SaskTel Center from 2pm to 5pm.
