Kirk Stanley Samida

1962 - 2023

Kirk Stanley Samida of Tisdale, SK, loving husband of Cori Samida, passed away in Saskatoon on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at the age of 61.  He will be forever loved and remembered by his wife, Cori; daughter, Chantal (Greg) and grandchildren, Easton, Cash and Teagan; daughter, Stephanie (Ryan) and grandchildren Bretton, Quinton and Drayton; daughter, Kirsten (Will); son, Kaeden; brother, David (Ruth); sisters, Ardith, Rosalee (Wayne), Janet and Chris (Ron); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Kirk was born and raised in Tisdale, SK, as the youngest of 10 children.  He attended Tisdale schools until graduation in 1980.  He was a great athlete and very active in sports with basketball being his favorite, but also enjoyed volleyball, badminton, track and field, and fastball.

Kirk mainly worked as a Partsman in Alberta and Saskatchewan, although his adventurous side led him to California for a time, working as a beekeeper.  While working in Alberta, Kirk and Cori met.  They were married on January 23,1993, and went on to raise four children.  He was involved in his son’s football as a coach and drove him to early morning hockey practices and games.  He also enjoyed watching his daughters in dance and soccer.  There was always teasing involved.

Kirk adored his grandchildren and whenever he was able to visit them, he would tease them relentlessly.  There was always a lot of laughs.  He wished to have had more time with them.

Kirk enjoyed many things - from having coffee in the mornings with neighbors and friends, to cooking supper on the fire-pit, enjoying a cold beer.  He loved the outdoors, being outside picking berries at 6:00 a.m. to doing any yard work needed.  His love of music was prominent in his life - he always had music playing.  Saturday mornings he would play his music to wake up the kids, go to garage sales with them, and then stop at the bakery for donuts.

Kirk made friends with ease.  Having a good time was of utmost importance and he would be alongside friends, getting into trouble and having a good laugh.  He was a great storyteller and if you were lucky, you would get a few (bad) jokes in between and probably a good teasing.  He will be sorely missed by many.

Kirk is predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Lydia Samida; brothers, Lorne, Roger and Kenneth; and sister, Gaylene.

If so desired, memorial donations can be made in Kirk’s memory directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada -
