Lenard Shirley

February 3, 1947 — November 3, 2024

SHIRLEY, Lenard Herbert

1947 - 2024

We are sad to announce Lenard's passing on November 3, 2024 at age 77, released from the grip of Lewy Body Dementia. He is survived by his wife Lynda, son Ryan (Jen Preiner) and grandchildren Peyton and Ava, daughter Amanda (Scott) Stanford and grandchildren Jaxson, Karter and Jersey, seven siblings and their spouses (Pat (Don) Taman, Tom, Denis (Diane Waterer) Ray (Donna Bond) Albert, Katherine and Theresa) numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. He leaves behind a circle of life-long friends and a caring family of in-laws who loved him and knew him well. Lenard was pre-deceased by his father (William Leo Shirley) mother (Katherine Scheidt) four brothers (James, Billy, Gerry and Mike) and one sister (Fran).

He was born in Saskatoon to a family of thirteen kids and stayed connected with the Shirley family through shared interests over his lifetime. He lived briefly in Edmonton where he met Lynda and went on to build a life with her in his beloved Saskatoon. Having been in the printing trade most of his working career as a lithographer, Lenard had a second career with Lynda in residential home building for ten years and retired in 2015. Lenard's priority was always home and family. He had a deeply held affinity for the land and home he built in the country where he raised his kids. Over those 30 years living in the country, Lenard undertook several hobby-farming ventures which he was passionate about. Lenard had a quiet confidence, a legendary sense of humour and a gift for imaginative storytelling with the kids and grandkids. He taught those closest to him what's important in this life and he will be missed more than words can say. Rest in peace Lenard, your memory will not fade. The family extends heartfelt thanks to those who took an active role in Lenard's care in recent years, also to the compassionate staff at Oliver Lodge and the valued support of others in thought and deed.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Saskatoon Funeral Home though, at Lenard's request, there will be no funeral service. The family will honour his memory in a private gathering at a future date.
