Lisa Higginbotham February 21, 1965 to June 20, 2021

On Sunday, June 20, 2021, Lisa Marie Higginbotham of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan passed away at the age of 56 years old.

Lisa is survived by her loving family, parents Armand and Germaine; son Justin (Reaschelle); daughter Tanisha; grandchildren Gabe, Parker, and Atticus.

She is also survived by her siblings Jacqueline, Jocelyne, Adrien (Penny), Alain (Shannon), Louis (Cheryl), Roger (Sharon), her many beloved nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Lisa was predeceased by her daughter Tarrah.

Lisa was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and moved to Pine Point at an early age with her parents and siblings. Lisa developed many long-lasting friendships in Pine Point which drew her back occasionally for reunions and catch up with friends. Lisa briefly lived in Kamloops with her sister Jacqueline. She eventually settled in Saskatoon where she planted her roots and raised her family.

Lisa was a true outlier. When asked to describe Lisa there were some very similar answers that came to everyone’s mind: unique, artistic, adventurous. Lisa expressed these attributes best through her physical style: flamboyant, eccentric and ornate. Lisa expressed herself through clothing, jewelry, décor, and her personality. She had the power to look at something no longer deemed desirable by the rest of the world and repurpose, recreate, or refurbish it into something beautiful. This is the way she looked at life as well – things might not always work out the way we hoped but she would repurpose a bad situation. Her laugh was infectious and something that drew people in. No one who met Lisa could ever forget her. She brought out a light in people that not everyone had the ability to do.

Lisa never set out to simply stand out from a crowd. She stood out because of her actions and the way she thrived with others. Lisa was always a person to make others feel included and recognized. She believed that every person was important, that they deserved to be noticed, and that their lives counted no matter what their experiences were. She was never concerned about a popular opinion or what people thought of her. Lisa marched to the beat of her own drum…. literally she had a set of drums.

Lisa would stand up for what was right no matter how hard that path may be, no matter how powerful that person may seem to be, and no matter what the consequences might be. For those that knew Lisa, taking the easy path just for the ease of it never crossed her mind.

Lisa did what was right and what made her feel good. One of those things that made her feel good was her family. She loved them fiercely and if you were to ask how her children and grandchildren were doing, she would would answer with a huge smile on her face. They were the air that she breathed and the light to her life.

Other experiences that brought her immense joy were music and dance. She danced in the rain. Heck, she danced even if no one else would. She would put on a little music and make the dance floor. By the end of the song, everyone would be out there with her.

Here is to the woman that danced in the rain, that played music all day, the woman that could make a dance floor no matter where you were. Here is to the woman that loved her family with all her heart, that spoke up for the underdogs, and made sure that every voice around her was heard. May your memories of Lisa heal your hearts.

To Lisa: we hope that reggae band plays nonstop as you find peace and tranquility.

An announcement will be made at a later date for Lisa's celebration of life for those wishing to attend. In the meantime, we ask that in the guest book you leave your favourite memories and stories of Lisa for everyone else to smile at and remember her by.
