In loving memory of Mike Ring, who died suddenly at the Royal University Hospital Emergency ward in Saskatoon, SK. after a two year struggle with cancer. Mike was born in Regina, SK. He was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Edward and Kathleen (nee Cregan); his sister, Lisa; and his stepmother, Charmaine (nee Brown).
Mike is survived by his son, Dean Brittain (Tina); brothers, Daniel (Laurie) and Patrick (Linda); as well as by friend, Donna Marie Roberts and her daughter, Asheber. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Sienna and James; nephews, Cody Cameron (Ashleigh) and William Ring (Kisti); niece, Bronwyn Fontaine (Drew); cousin, Peter Ring; stepsisters, Shelly and Donna Redlick (Rui); and stepbrother, Calvin Redlick; as well as his many dear friends in Saskatoon and Negril, Jamaica.
Mike lived in Regina and Fort San, SK. before moving to Saskatoon in 1971. He attended Bedford Road Collegiate and then SIAST Kelsey institute where he studied Biological Sciences. After graduating, he worked at the University of Saskatchewan Heath Sciences Building as an Animal Technician for almost 30 years, retiring in 2010.
We are all going to miss Mike; he was an unforgettable guy, full of life and adventure. His original, often sarcastic and outrageous sense of humour, his love of sports especially NBA, NFL and CFL (Riders, Eagles and Raiders), his love of punk, rock and reggae music, and his many trips with family and friends to Negril, Jamaica stand out. He was also a studious and well-read man who had deep interest in current affairs and history, especially WWII. This interest led to him becoming a technical researcher for GMT Games one of the largest war games companies in the world.
At Mike’s request, there will be no funeral. A celebration of Mike’s life will be announced in the upcoming months.
