Mona Lee WICKBERG
January 24, 1941 – January 7, 2021
It is with deep sadness the family of Mona Lee Wickberg of Saskatoon, SK, announce her peaceful passing on January 7, 2021 in Saskatoon, SK, at the age of 79 years old. Mona is survived by her daughters Paula (Robert) Wickberg and Carrie (Darren) Melo-Wonko, her grandchildren Anthony and Matthew, her step-grandchildren Paiten (Colton) and Kyler, and her sisters Donna Beatty and Carol (Rick) Rogers, while forever living in the hearts of her nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Mona was predeceased by her husband Hugh, brother Ronald Houben, and parents Joseph and Ethyl Houben. A funeral service will be held at a later date at New Stockholm Lutheran Church, in Stockholm, SK.
Mona was born in Stockholm, SK, to Joseph and Ethel Houben. In 1970, Mona married Hugh Wickberg and they made their home and raised their family in Stockholm, SK, and, in their later years, moved to Saskatoon, SK. Mona was a compassionate, caring, and patient woman who loved music (especially singing and playing the guitar), art, nature, gardening, and bible study. Her strength, perseverance, and determination served as an inspiration to many, and everyone who knew her will always remember her kindness, warmth, and sense of humour. Her family was the center of her world, and she always prioritized making those around her feel special, important, and understood. From 2013 until the time of her passing, Mona resided at Central Haven Special Care Home. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the loving care she received from the wonderful caregivers, elders, and all other community members at Central Haven.
