Nicholas Donaleshen, 93, of Saskatoon passed away peacefully on Saturday August 31, 2024. Born on August 30, 1931, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, he was the son of the late Daniel and Mary Danylyshyn. Nicholas was born and raised in Saskatoon. He worked on the railroad, as well as playing and coaching hockey.
In 1957, he moved to the United States to play hockey with the New Haven Blades. He played successfully until 1965. He eventually moved back to Canada, where he found his passion in training race horses. He trained until 2017.
Nicholas is survived by his daughter Karen (Greg) Hine, grandchildren Eliza, Brittany, Olivia, Blake and Danielle. He is predeceased by his son Richard, daughter Lynn, his brother Peter and sister Olga.
Nicks family would like to say a special thank you to all of his dear friends and coffee buddies. Your friendship and kindness meant the world to Nick. We are truly grateful. Nicholas requested no formal service. A private interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Saskatoon.
