Ron grew up in Regina spending his summers in B Say Tah on Echo beach in the Fort Qu’Appelle valley. Ron loved basketball, hockey and golf.
Ron moved to Saskatoon in 1958 to attend the University of Saskatchewan and met Irene who would become his wife April 30 1960. Irene brought Ron to her family cabin in Waskesiu which would become a place Ron would love. Ron & Irene settled in Saskatoon where they raised their four children. Ron worked construction for most of his career transitioning to a renovation business in Waskesiu. They spent their early summers between B Say Tah and Waskesiu.
Ron cherished his summers at Waskesiu with his family and many friends. He loved golfing, boating, fishing, and going to the beaches. Ron enjoyed the game bridge which they played many years with their friends. Ron enjoyed spending many evenings with his family and friends BBQing at the beaches and cabin. He spent many days teaching his kids how to golf, fish and waterski. Ron lived a happy life, his laugh was infectious, he was fun to be around, told many stories, was a cheerful, kind and helpful person.
Ron enjoyed reading and music and keeping up on the current news in the world.
Ron was special to everyone he met and has left a long-lasting impact on many friends who were like family to him. Ron will surely be remembered for driving around in his van in Waskesiu and stopping to talk to everyone and often stopping to having a coffee with the locals at the grocery store and people’s cabins.
A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at a later date with his family. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Waskesiu Foundation (waskesiufoundation.ca) in Ron’s name.
