Rosalind Regnier
Rosalind Marguerite Regnier (née Barnes) was born 1938 and raised just north of London England. After the war, Roz joined the RCAF and moved to Canada. As a member of the Canadian Forces she met her husband Gerald Regnier, a union that lasted till his passing in 2017. Roz was the mother of three boys, Paul, Gerald and Vincent, and grandmother (Nana) to four grandchildren, Amanda, Jordan, Maia and Tatiana.
As a young woman Rosalind worked many years as a medical receptionist and lived in many communities across Canada; Ottawa Ontario; Summerside PEI; Regina Sask; Cold Lake Alberta. As a military family, they were moving at least every three years. Moving was a fact of life for Roz and Gerry made more challenging with three boys, spaced one year apart. Later, Roz entered the University of Saskatchewan and went on to become a registered nurse, an accomplishment she was very proud of. Her skills as a nurse allowed her to work in many northern communities where she excelled and connected with many people.
Once Roz and Gerry entered retirement mode, they spent many summers up at the cabin on Iroquois Lake. There, she continued as an avid reader, knitter, walker and critic of all things not British. During the winters and back in Saskatoon Roz was an avid walker and also a volunteer as a teacher of English for newcomers to Canada. She spent years as a volunteer with victim services of the Saskatoon Police Department. She had a lot of compassion for those suffering.
After Gerry's passing, we became aware Rosalind's mental health was on a slow decline. Even though her mind was slowly fading, her physical activity and sense of humour stayed strong.
Eventually moving out of the apartment, her and Gerry had shared Roz moved into the Franklin retirement residence. As the struggle became too much for independent living Rosalind spent a few very good years at the Luther Intermediate Care Home where she enjoyed the community of other seniors; enjoyed the group activities, singing and interacting on a personal level with other residents.
When the dementia had reached an advanced stage Rosalind was blessed to enter St. Joseph's nursing home where she would wheel around in the early morning with the Sisters checking on residents.
May Rosalind rest in Christ's loving embrace and be with those who went before her especially Rosalind's husband Gerry and son Gerald.
