It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Susan (Sue) Marion Duchak on February 5th, 2025 at the age of 67 after a brief battle with cancer.
Susan is survived by her loving husband Ron and her loving daughter Mary (Dale Hanson). Also an aunt,
Shirley Brownlee, brothers Kevin and Terry Ross, five grandchildren Mary Jo (Andrew) Kondra, Jordan (Jaylean) Welker, Erica Welker (Brett Capnerhurst), Jessica Welker and Tanis Ylioja. Also six great grandchildren Mia, Anna, Emma, Brielle, Liam and Mason. She was predeceased by her son Jason, her parents Don and Marg Ross, brother Roger and sister Lana.
Susan was born in Estevan and briefly lived in Nipawin before moving to Saskatoon when she was very young. She attended Albert School and Nutana Collegiate. She worked in food service industry much of her life as a single parent starting at Kelly's Kafe, then to Justin's restaurant, and Fuddruckers. She waitressed at the Nutana Legion for a number of years before ending up at Tim Horton's and staying for close to 20 years. She married Ron in 1997 and they have been together happily ever since.
She was an avid RVer and loved camping in Northern Saskatchewan. Every spring her eyes would light up when it came time to prepare "HER" trailer for the coming summer at the lake. A campfire was mandatory and anyone touching her poker would receive the Susan stare. They would "drop it and never go near it again". Recently she became hooked on fishing and was so proud when she earned her boat license. When Sue was driving the boat she insisted she be called "Captain".
Sue will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
A memorial service will not be held at this time but at a later date.
The family would like to acknowledge the kindness and caring support the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Paul's and RUH for helping Susan in her time of need.
