Obituary of Joan Elaine Letendre

Joan Letendre, nee Polischuk passed away at her home in Leask, Saskatchewan on June 14, 2023. She was predeceased by her mother Mary Polischuk and father John Polischuk. She is survived by her husband Ernie, sons Kevin and Carey, grandsons Pike and Boone and beloved dog Murphy.

Joan was born on August 26th, 1951 in Saskatoon Saskatchewan. Joan was raised on the family farm near Peterson, Saskatchewan. Being a country girl at heart, Joan would likely be found helping her father John tend to the animals on the farm. She attended primary school at the "little school house on the hill" near her home before attending high school at Prud'homme Saskatchewan where she met her future husband Ernie Letendre. Joan and Ernie married on February 22, 1969 in Prud'homme Saskatchewan and soon thereafter started a family. They lived in various locations in western Canada before settling down in Regina Saskatchewan in 1976. Joan began her career at SaskTel as a Directory Assistance Operator in 1978. Soon after-wards, Joan and the family relocated to Delisle Saskatchewan in 1983 where Joan continued her career with SaskTel in Saskatoon. Joan and Ernie moved to Dalmeny Saskatchewan in 1992, Whiteswan Lake Saskatchewan in 2005 (where they built a log cabin as their retirement home) and finally to Leask Saskatchewan in 2019.

Joan had a great love of music and learned to sing and play the guitar as a teen, often bringing her young sons to tears with her heartfelt rendition of Puff the Magic Dragon. She inherited her mother's green thumb and could be seen tending to various greenery both indoors and outdoors. Joan brought her love of plants into the kitchen where she was well known for being an accomplished cook with nary a recipe needed to satiate the appetite of anyone who had the privilege of sitting at her dinner table; Joan's prized perogies and cabbage rolls were coveted near and far. Joan had a tremendous love of fishing and could often be found perched over her ice-fishing hole eagerly awaiting her next catch. Joan had an extensive love of animals as evidenced by the many creatures and critters she had on her acreage in Delisle including, but not limited to: Horses, Cattle, Pigs, Goats, Sheep, Chickens, Rabbits, Dogs, Cats and a Llama. However, more than anything else, Joan loved her two sons beyond measure and cherished every moment she had with them.

A celebration of Joan's life will be held on August 26th, 2023 from 3pm to 8pm at Circle H Ranch near Saskatoon.
