Obituary of Florence Holoboff

 

The death of Helen Florence Holoboff aged 86, of Saskatoon occurred on Tuesday August 22, 2023.

 

Florence was born in Saskatoon in 1937. Being a CN Rail worker’s daughter, she moved with her parents and brother to many different small towns west and southwest of Saskatoon.  Taking her schooling in many of those towns.

 

When the family eventually moved back to Saskatoon, she began classes at the Saskatoon Business College, eventually ending up working at Pendlebury’s Customs Brokers (Percy H. Davis).  During this time, she met and fell in love with Peter Holoboff. Florence married Peter in April of 1967.

 

Florence was a long-time member of the CN Curling Club, competing in many bonspiels around the city, and helping organize the Saskatoon City Ladies Bonspiel on a few occasions.  She enjoyed playing golf and was a long-time member at the Holiday Park Golf Course, being the Tuesday morning ladies league club captain for many years.

 

For numerous years Florence was the Secretary Treasurer at St. Thomas Wesley United Church and was a vital part of all the Church’s activities around Saskatoon.  She was very proud of the Church’s push for inclusiveness and outreach within the community.

 

Florence was a big sports fan. Loved attending local sporting events with Peter, or watching the Toronto Blue Jays, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and golf tournaments on TV.  Especially the Majors.

 

Loved working in her garden, planting flowers around the house, enjoyed bike rides around Diefenbaker Park, and walks along the river at River Landing with Peter.

 

Florence is survived by her sons Kent, Darren, and Bryan (Jacquie); Granddaughter Jade; brother Bill Dubinski; and nephew Paul (Vicki)

 

Florence is predeceased by her husband Peter, parents Peter and Helen; Parents-in-Law George and Tina; brothers in law Bill and Paul; sister-in-law Shirley; and nephew Robert.

 

The Family would like to thank the Wonderful Staff at the St. Joseph’s Care Home in Saskatoon for her stay over the past 7 years.

 

As per Florence’s request there will be no funeral service.
