Robert Rintoul

Obituary of Robert James Rintoul

Robert James (Jim) Rintoul, age 69, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2017 with his family by his side. Robert was born in Watrous, SK on November 4, 1947, and worked at various jobs in the area prior to moving to Saskatoon in his early 20’s to pursue a career in the construction industry. Robert met the love of his life, Ellice in 1980 and they were married in July of that year. They were blessed with 2 daughters, Amanda born in 1982 and Krista in 1985. Robert was predeceased by his precious Ellice, and they celebrated 28 years of marriage prior to her passing in March 2009. Robert worked for Weldon's Concrete (now Expocrete) as a batch plant operator, and retired in July 2014 after 24 years. Robert’s love of Nascar had him glued to the TV, often for 4-5 hours at a time. His dream of seeing a live race was realized when he was able to attend the Daytona 500 in Florida in 2011. This started a tradition and he was fortunate to be able to attend 3 more races. He passed along his love of Nascar to his brother Garry and his family, and this sparked some lively and good-natured “race commentary”. Maddie joined the family in February 2010, and though he initially didn’t want a dog, she quickly made her way into Robert’s heart. Charly, affectionately known as Dick Dog arrived in December 2013. The “girls” were his constant companions, always near him. His opinion was that there was no such thing as too many treats, and just a little taste of people food wouldn’t hurt them. Robert is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Amanda (Shane) Bilodeau, grandsons Jarren, Avery and Easton; and Krista (Russell) Foley and granddaughter Brielle. He is also survived by his mother, Mae Rintoul and 11 brothers and sisters and their families. He was predeceased by his father Robert Rintoul, and his brother Donald. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Paul’s Hospital.
