Bob Tokaryk was first a great neighbour when i was young, and then a fantastic teacher and mentor as I made it through medical school and then into Plastic Surgery. He was a kind and caring man to his friends and patients. I am grateful for all the memories of great times as Waskesiu with our families as well as his outstanding example and teaching in his career. I send condolences from our family to yours. He will be missed.

Bob was a mentor, friend and superior educator. I was one his Plastic Surgery Residents who now enjoys a wonderful career thanks in part to his guidance. Dr. Tokaryk had an understanding and empathy for patients and for his Residents that was unique. He was passionate and not afraid to share is opinion when your attitude needed an adjustment. He was proud to be a "community" Plastic Surgeon who valued his patients opinions rather than trying to impress with academic achievements. Thank you to Bob and to Judy to their friendship and support during my training in Saskatoon and later in the early years of my career. Your family and friends will miss but never forget.

Dear Judy,
I was so sorry to learn just today of Bob's passing. Please accept my sincerest condolences.
He was a skilled surgeon. I remember seeing Bob shortly after my return from Australia for the removal of a lump. I can no longer discern where it was! Sending hugs to you and your family. May you find comfort in your memories, friends and family.

We are really here for such a short period of time but few of us pack so much into a lifetime as did Bob. His secret seemed to be that he was always engaged and interested in what was going on in his community, nature and those around him and that he always seemed to be looking forward to what to pursue next. We will certainly miss Bob's presence but have been very lucky in our lives to have had Bob (and Judy) as neighbors for the past 12 years and will always hold Bob in our memories. Our hearts go out to Judy and family as they deal with their loss.

I will always think fondly of the many times he came to work with us in the OR And the service he provided to many people in the Melfort area. Again , my deepest condolences to his family and friends. Tammy ❤️

Bob and I were in medical school at the same time, although in different years. At the time our wives were working together at the Veterinary College. Despite their salaries Bob and I would work extra 16 hour shifts in the Emergency at the University Hospital for $70-$100. We lived in the same neighbourhood and watched as Bob built their house on Harvard Crescent. As Bob began his general practice I was in a Plastic Surgery residency so that when some years later Bob chose to specialise he was one of my residents in training. After Bob finished his residency he began a solo specialty practice and joined the surgeons in the division in teaching further years of plastic surgeons and medical students. When the Surgicenter was developed he planned the facility and despite having solo practices Bob, Les Chasmar and I became partners in that facility. In addition to providing call and in-patient coverage at all three hospitals we alternated practice call so we could co-ordinate time off and holidays. Over the years he trusted me to care for his mother as a patient. His mother also became the landlord for one of our daughters living in her house in P.A. When that daughter and family moved to Melfort Bob shared his clinic and O.R. time with me so Colleen and I could visit family while working. We shared responsibility and patient care in co-ordination to optimise family time and a better quality of life despite a solo practice care model. Despite the many practical and political challenges of nearly 4 decades of practice in the province Bob was a valued colleague and friend. We shared many memories and he will be missed!
Colleen and I sent our thoughts and prayers to the family!

Dear Judy and Family:
On behalf of my wife, Marguerite, and myself, please accept our most heartfelt condolences on the passing of our old friend, Bob.
Marguerite and I both grew up with Bob in Prince Albert until just after elementary school, King George...
In fact Bob was my first friend ever, I first met him when I was two weeks old, he being a little older. Born into a house kitty corner to the Tokaryk home on 20th Street East in PA, we became fast friends, riding our tricycles together, attending each other's birthday parties, playing baseball, football and road hockey as well as attending King George School. In fact I have the photos to prove it.
I will never forget eating the world's best butter tarts baked by his mom. Mary, as well as getting caught drinking a delightful mixture made by his dad, Tony, as a summer drink which Bob and I found in his parents' fridge, It turned out to be vodka in Kool Aid, but what did two four year old kids know? I do know that we horrified our parents at the time. It may well be why the Tokaryk household relocated to a new home several blocks west on 20th
.
Marguerite's last name was Duck and Bob always called her "Ducky" up to and including the last time we saw him in Waskesiu about 3 weeks ago. He usually called me by my childhood nickname of "Corky", much to my embarrassment in later years.
With my family relocating to Saskatoon at age 13,Bob and I tended to lose touch, as regrettably often times happens with friends. We did see each other in summers at Waskesiu where we both had cabins.
Coincidentally, and happily, in later years we were able to reconnect while both working in health care in Saskatoon..Bob was a very well respected physician and surgeon and I was an executive with the Health Authority..
"True friends are never apart;.
maybe in distance. but never in heart."
Our blessings are with your family, now and forever.
Fondly,
Brian and Marguerite Morgan

Bob was a great mentor and colleague. He encouraged my choice of Plastic Surgery as a career and was very supportive as a mentor and friend when I started practice in Saskatoon. He was a warm and friendly individual who cared for all those around him. Always a gentleman and cool under pressure, you had to admire his ability to spin a good yarn in the middle of a complicated operation. I will miss him dearly.

Thank you to the Tokaryk family for so many great times over the years. The trips to Waskeseui, sleepovers, and laughing around the kitchen table on Harvard Cres are all part of my greatest memories from high school. Nothing was quite as good as when someone could get Bob to smile & laugh. You knew you were really hilarious then. All my love to Judy, Wendy, Andrea & Tony....Bob will be deeply missed by so many. Was so blessed to share time with cousin Bob in Waskesiu in June of 2019, during a ‘sentimental journey’ taken with my sister Zinnia (Zee). We were so welcomed. Sending love, hugs and condolences to those he loved so well and left behind. He was a special man who left the world a better place for his being here.

So sorry to hear of Bob's passing. Bob and I go back a long way, high school buddies, university roommates and both of us belonged to the Sask. Smokejumpers. Bob and I lost contact through our early working years but met up again at the Smokejumpers reunion and on a trip he and Judy took out to the West coast. I am so glad that I got to talk to Bob just a week before his passing. We told a few lies and reminisced about the good old days. Bob will be missed.
My condolences to Judy and family.
