Obituary of Donna Ellen Brecken

 Donna Brecken (Munro)
1946 – 2022

Mom passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2022 at Royal University Hospital at the age of 75. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Garry, sons Travis and Dallas and daughter Rhonda (Jason) Stovra and grandsons Matthew and Bret, sister Bev (Lawrence) Pinnell and nieces Angie and Lisa. Donna was predeceased by her parents Bob and Edith Munro, and nephew Duane Pinnell.

Donna was born in Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan on March 26, 1946. She attended school in Demaine, Saskatchewan and later moved to Saskatoon to attend Saskatoon Business College. She worked at Saskatchewan Mutual Insurance for many years.

Donna married Garry Brecken in 1968. She decided to stay home and raise her three children.

Mom attended Christ Church for over 30 years. She became an active member of the ACW and the Alter Guild, where she made many close friends and enjoyed all the activities that went on in the church.

She was known for her gravy making skills at the church fall suppers and the turkey pot pies. Her favorite pastimes were reading the morning newspaper with her coffee, playing cards with her friends and, of course, watching curling. Mom was immensely proud of her two grandsons. She loved to attend their activities and supported them on every occasion. She was always there when we needed her.

Mom faced many health challenges in her life but never complained. She made the best out of every situation.

The family would like to thank the hospital staff of RUH for the wonderful care Mom received.

Due to covid restrictions, there will be a private service.

She will be sorrowfully missed but joyfully remembered.
