Obituary of Marie Antoinette Klingenberg

Marie Klingenberg
1925 - 2022

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Klingenberg, at her home, with her daughters by her side, on April 20, 2022 at the age of 97.  Marie was born in Bokryk, Genk in Belgium to Henri Leers and Stefanie Reynders on January 21st, 1925.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Christine, Madeline (Doug) and Monica, and her three grandsons, Dorian, Alon and Eden.

Marie is survived by her sisters Augusta, Josephine and Emilienne, her brother Jos (Yvonne), numerous nieces and nephews and their families and her close friend Ludo. She was predeceased by her husband George and her daughter Kathleen.

Marie loved music, gardening and all of nature’s beauty. She cared deeply about the environment and for the many birds who frequented her backyard feeders.

The family would like to express special thanks to her wonderful caregivers  - Donna, who was her devoted nurse and loving companion in her final months, and Anne  for her constant support and kindness in managing her care and special needs over the past year and a half. We offer our sincere gratitude to the palliative care nurses and all those who offered their support and care.

At Marie’s request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family suggests you make a donation to your favourite charity or a local bird or animal sanctuary.
