Obituary of Richard "Rick" Ellis

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the family of Richard Ellis, 65, of Saskatoon, SK announce his sudden passing on May 25, 2023. 

Rick was born on Jan. 1, 1958 in Balcarres, SK where he attended high school (Class of 1975) and farmed with his Dad.  From 1976 thru 1981, Rick served in the Royal Canadian Navy.  He then continued his career in agriculture, working for Naber Seed & Grain in Melfort, SK. 

Rick’s final career and one that he aspired to be was a millwright; he moved to Saskatoon, he studied and trained at workshops, and he ultimately joined the local Millwright branch, Union 1021. 

Rick had recently retired, and he enjoyed his time learning stock trading and financing. 

He is survived by his sisters, Wendy (Ross) Percifield; Marlene (Moe) Emara; and Marilyn Aries; one brother, Barry; nephew, Robert (Joelle) Christensen; nieces, Christina and Isabel Dennis; grand-nephew, Jordan; and grand-niece, Brelynn.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and Douglas, his brother, Bruce, and his sister, Nancy.  Rick will be missed by his family, numerous cousins, friends, and co-workers. 

There will be a Celebration of his life at 2:00 pm, Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Saskatoon Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made out to the Canada Heart and Stroke Foundation in Rick’s name.
