Obituary of David Russel Penrod

It is with profound sadness that the family of David (Digger) Penrod announce his peaceful passing on June 7, 2023, surrounded by family, after battling cancer. Born February 24, 1961, Digger grew up in Saskatoon, attending King George elementary school and Bedford Road Collegiate. Shortly after graduating, he obtained a job with the Saskatoon Public School division where he remained a loyal employee until his retirement.

Digger married the love of his life, Connie, in 1989, and together they enjoyed crafting and collecting Disney memorabilia. He was a gentle natured , kind hearted, simple man with a deep love for his family and dogs.

Digger was predeceased by his parents, Russel (1992) and Marion (2008), two nephews, Kevin (2003) and Alwin (2006), his mother- in- law Katherine Herman (1996) and a brother-in-law Randy Nicolychuk (2010), also his best buddy and pet Abu (2022).

He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife Connie, his siblings Jim (Myra), Lanny (Jane), Judy (Doug), his dog Bella as well as numerous nieces and nephews and special family friend Judy Penrod.

As per Digger’s request, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
