Obituary of Ruth Elizabeth Smith
Forever Remembered
It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Ruth Elizabeth Smith (nee Saworski) on September 3rd, 2023. Mom passed away peacefully with family by her side. Even though she is no longer on this earth, she will be remembered by all of us and our memories of her cherished always.
Left to mourn her passing is Ruth’s loving husband of 67 years, Ovila (Joe) Smith, their children, Carol O’Hara (Gerald Schmirler), Lyall (Cindy) Smith, Sandra Fontaine, Lynda (Danny) Howe and Cindy Lou Blunt, grandchildren Amanda (Andrew) Grasby, Angela O’Hara-Towler (Karl Towler), Cameron Smith (Lisa Sanders), Lisa Smith and Candace Adams (Antonio Garcia), great-grandchildren Kale Grasby, Moreah O’Hara-Towler, Breeanne Sanders & Brooke Smith, Neah & Isiah Smith, Brady, Riley & Keshon Adams. Ruth is also survived by her brother Elmer (Sally) Saworski, many brothers & sisters in law, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Anton and Marion Saworski, parents in law Theophile & Lillian Smith, brother Earl Saworski, grandchildren Melinda O’Hara, Jacqueline Smith, Jennifer Adams and special 2nd son Denis Gagnon and many other loved family members.

Those who knew Ruth know she never liked being fussed over and would rather give than receive and that she had an immense love of animals. Respecting her wishes, in lieu of funeral services and to honour her, we ask that all who wish to participate in remembering her can make a donation to any Humane Society of their choice or please celebrate Ruth’s memory in your own way. We know that she will be with us in spirit.
